Heavy Equipment & Fleet Operations Manager

Job Purpose:

To oversee, manage, and optimize the movement, operation, and maintenance of heavy equipment, construction vehicles, and transportation fleets. Ensures the efficient use of resources, compliance with safety regulations, and support for ongoing construction and logistics operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan, organize, and supervise the daily movement of heavy equipment, trucks, and company vehicles to meet project and transportation needs.
• Monitor fleet utilization, fuel consumption, and equipment performance to maximize efficiency and reduce operating costs.
• Coordinate with project managers, site engineers, and logistics teams to allocate equipment and vehicles as required.
• Ensure regular preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs of all heavy equipment and vehicles to minimize downtime.
• Implement and enforce safety procedures, traffic regulations, and compliance with local transportation laws.
• Manage and supervise drivers, operators, and mechanics, ensuring discipline, training, and high performance.

• 2–5+ years of hands-on experience repairing and maintaining heavy machinery (e.g., bulldozers, excavators, loaders, forklifts).

• Assist in the assembly and dismantling of cranes according to manufacturer specifications and project plans.
• Help with loading/unloading crane material from trailers.
• Perform basic mechanical tasks such as greasing the parts, cleaning the boom sections.

• Epiroc ST1030 Loaders
• Sandvik Face Rigs
• Caterpillar Underground Trucks & R1600 Loaders
• Toyota 79 Series Land Cruisers
• Conduct inspections and diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
• Ensure all maintenance work is carried out according to OEM standards and safety guidelines.
• Maintain accurate service and maintenance records.
• Support component rebuilds such as rock drills, cylinders, hydraulic motors, and turning devices.
• Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems on underground drill rigs (e.g., Sandvik DD320, Epiroc S7D).

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Technical qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, or related field.
• OEM training with Caterpillar, Sandvik, Epiroc, or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant hands-on experience in underground mining equipment maintenance.
• Willingness to work on a rotational shift/remote site format.
• Strong knowledge of hydraulic systems, diagnostics, and repairs (advantage).
• Experience in component rebuilds (advantage).
• High regard for safety and compliance standards.
