Job Description

Job Brief :

The QC Supervisor will be responsible for managing all Quality Assurance aspects including but not limited to identifying QC requirements such as resources, procedures, documentation, etc. The role will be working closely with the Project QC Manager, and Operations and QC teams.

Your Responsibilities

  • Conduct inspection of raw materials, bought out items, and review of Material Test Certificates (MTC) and the specification requirements
  • Coordinate with third party inspection agencies for all related inspection activities
  • Ensure Quality Control procedures are followed, and ensure Inspection Test Plans (ITP) are conducted according to project requirements and client specifications; follow-up for its approval
  • Plan and supervise sub-contractor inspection activities, and review sub-contractor QC performance
  • Apply practical knowledge in the interpretation of standards and codes used in respective disciplines of specialization (Ex. civil, piping, pressure vessel, special structural jobs, electrical, instrumentation, etc.)
  • Undertake preparation of QC reports as applicable for handing over to the client, and maintain proper filing system (according to organization procedure) with full traceability for retrieving the QC document
  • Act as key coordination point during ISO internal and external audits; perform internal and operation audits of various coded jobs
  • Coordinate with Operations and clients for QC matters

  • Minimum 7 years of QC experience in Steel Structures and Warehouse or Factory Construction

    Engineering / Construction Manager - Dhahran


    Project Definition:
    This role is focused on a separate two-storey Mosque within the site of the King Abdul Aziz Centre for World Culture in Dhahran near the East coast of Saudi Arabia. The Mosque had a separate design team from that of the Cultural Centre and similarly has a separate Contractor.


    Role Definition:
    The Engineering / Construction Manager role on the project is focused on the Mosque building and is key to ensuring that the engineering aspects of the contractor’s submissions, shop drawing and interdisciplinary coordination processes are dealt with promptly, proactively and with an eye to managing the Client’s and Buro Happold’s risk. Based within the Client’s organisation, and amongst the Buro Happold Team for the Cultural Centre, the Engineering / Construction Manager will formally report to both Buro Happold and to the Client’s Team, Saudi Aramco Project Management Team (SAPMT). The successful candidate will have both technical and relationship management skills. The Engineering / Construction Manager is not expected to have full knowledge of all disciplines. They will however be expected to liaise with relevant members of the Buro Happold site-based team, with off-site specialist disciplines, and with SAPMT. The successful candidate will also be taking a lead role in ongoing dialogue with the appointed Contractor. The position is a site based appointment with the focus on supporting the contractor, the Client (Aramco) and driving the project forward.


    Responsibilities:

    1. Assist SAPMT to monitor the Contractor’s progress.
    2. Provide support to SAPMT and site engineering inspectors to ensure technical compliance with the approved contract specifications, working practices and drawings.
    3. Liaise where necessary with, and prepare submissions for, other Saudi Aramco departments involved in the supervision.

    Essential Experience:

    1. Typically 10+ year’s relevant industry experience of a technical role, within either a contractor or engineering consultancy.
    2. The applicant will need to have strong interpersonal and organisational skills.
    3. A team player able to provide leadership to colleagues in other disciplines.
    4. Applicant will require high levels of patience when dealing with the many interested parties within Saudi Aramco.

    Desirable Experience:

    1. Ideally, the candidate will also have considerable experience of working on multidisciplinary construction projects.
    2. Experience in the Middle East, especially in Saudi Arabia is desirable but not mandatory.
    3. Experience of both design and construction will be an advantage.
    4. Experience of projects involving architectural concrete works will be an advantage.

    Qualifications:

    1. Ideally a Chartered professional or equivalent with a relevant institution.
    2. Ideally Bachelors degree (BEng / BSc) or Masters degree (MEng / MSc) in an appropriate discipline.

Travel to the client's offices or to the project site will be required during the life of the contract. What You'll Be Doing:

    • Provides technical guidance to assigned personnel, and ensures proficiency and timeliness of commercial management and contract administration.
    • Collaborates with the client and third parties (including State owned entities) to ensure thorough and timely contract management practices
    • Collaborates with engineering, technical and project management teams to ensure proper contract administration, payments certification, variations administration and claims management.
    • Proactive approach to risk identification and change management.
    • Negotiates the more difficult, complex, or sensitive issues with clients.
    • Maintains an active participation in related professional societies to keep abreast of relevant contractual issues.
    • Draft high quality and professional contractual notices
    • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
    What Required Skills You'll Bring:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, or related field and typically 15+ years of prime contract administration experience within a large international engineering and construction firm is required
    • Requires a comprehensive knowledge of industry business practices and understanding of FIDIC based prime contracts predominantly in the Utilities sector.
    • Incumbent must possess strong written and oral communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and a working knowledge of PC software packages typically associated with contract administration (such as Aconex).
    • Proven ability to perform in a management capacity is also required
    • Proven ability to manage and interface with clients and third parties
