Requirements

• Participate in the product design process from concept to prototyping, utilizing CAD software and other designing tools to create detailed drawings and specifications.
• Conduct usability testing and gather feedback to iteratively improve product designs.
• Generate technical documentation, including detailed drawings, specifications, and documentation for manufacturing assembly.
• Work closely with manufacturing partners to coordinate production activities and ensure smooth transition from prototyping to mass production.
• Stay updated on design trends, emerging technologies, and industry best practices to drive innovation and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Recently graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, or a related field.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end product work.
• Proficiency in CAD (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360, AutoCAD) and familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud for visualization.
• Hands-on prototyping experience (e.g., 3D printing, CNC machining, laser cutters, shop tools).
• Working knowledge of manufacturing processes (plastics, sheet metal, machined parts), materials selection, and basic tolerance analysis.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills; able to explain design decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced startup environment.
• High proficiency in written and spoken English.

Type of employment: 6 months Internship

Transportation: Daily shuttles between Jeddah and KAUST are available.

The Job in a Nutshell

We are looking for a Product Design Manager to lead and elevate its design discipline. This managerial role involves collaborating across departments (Product, Data, Engineering) to define and scale both Product Design and UX writing & research. You'll own the Product Design team's success, improve design processes and quality, and empower the company for innovation and accessibility. By shaping Foodics' design evolution and ensuring brand consistency, you'll contribute to building user-friendly and aesthetically pleasing products that fuel the company's continued growth.

What You Will Do

1. Partner closely with our Designers, Product Leaders, and Engineering Managers to shape our strategy and roadmap for the Foodics Design discipline.
2. Foster a cohesive design team culture by mentoring junior product designers, providing growth opportunities, and creating an environment that attracts and retains top talent.
3. Scope project work (in partnership with PMs, Data, and engineers) and help define the strategy, roadmap, and timelines to implement them.
4. Act as a coach for the team providing technical guidance, feedback, and the right support to help each member do their best work.
5. Elevate the team's performance and help Foodics challenge the status quo.
6. Be a technical reference for the team, seeking to adapt and replicate the best practices in the market, elevating the design standards at Foodics.
7. Proactively seek areas of opportunity and business growth, negotiate and help the team prioritize and execute.
8. Oversee multiple initiatives from insight to strategy, to launch across all platforms and devices.
9. Collaborate with management to develop and maintain cultural initiatives that keep our design team engaged, enthusiastic, and united.

About the role

We are looking for an User Experience Designer to join our growing Product Design practice based out of our new studio in Riyadh. You should have solid foundations in the user-centered design process, and the confidence to collaborate with clients and coworkers to create exceptional digital experiences. In this role you will support UX activities on projects and collaborate with an interdisciplinary design team. You should have an interest in all things digital and technology, a natural curiosity in what makes users tick, and a growing ability to translate business goals into intuitive digital experiences. Roles:

- As part of a cross-functional, interdisciplinary design team, participate in and contribute to user experience activities including audits, user research, research analysis, ideation, sketching, usability testing, hosting and facilitating co-creation workshops, collaborative design sessions, and client presentations.
- Being directly responsible for delivering all aspects of design, from defining customer needs to delivering concepts and prototypes to UI specifications for engineering.
- Create client-facing deliverables such as personas or archetypes, mindsets, user journeys, information architectures, sitemaps, wireframes, prototypes, user research plans, and reports.
- Support creative and engineering teams across a one or more projects at a time; the ability to multitask and stay focused on results is essential
- Stay informed on new technologies, trends, and developments within the design and front-end development community.
- Research, analyze, and share insights around users’ motivations, goals, and behaviors.
- Very good understanding of digital accessibility in design.
- Contribute towards the creation of design solutions that address user needs and strategic client objectives.

Qualifications & Skills
- Min 8+ years of experience.
- Degree in interaction design, human-computer interaction, or industrial design preferred. Degree in a related field such as library science, graphic design, cognitive science, psychology, anthropology, computer science, or architecture considered.
- Ability to work independently, multitask, and meet deadlines while knowing when to reach out for oversight/advice/mentoring.
- Capable of clearly articulating UX design approach and rationale to teams and clients. Accepts direction with an open mind. Comfortable giving and receiving critique/feedback/
- Knowledge of web-based technologies and mobile operating systems and platforms and their impact on the feasibility of design solutions, for example HTML 5, CSS, scripting, iOS, Android, and various similar technologies.
- Deeply curious and stays up to date on latest digital and design trends.
- Experience with usability testing a plus
- Articulate, excellent communication and presenting skills.
