Key Responsibilities:

We are experts in the whole open source stack, from kernel to desktop, from cloud to the edge. Our team is also interested in business problems - building things reliably, efficiently and cost-effectively, and we have to learn to speak the language of our customers and their industries.

We help global companies embrace public and private cloud infrastructure, cloud native operations, and open source applications. For this team we are looking for several Alliances Engineers to support OEM (hardware manufacturers), GSI (global system integrators), ISV (independent software vendors), Channel partners and Public Cloud alliance partners. You will support various alliances and partners of Canonical to adopt our products and technologies, help business leaders to define joint go-to-market programs with partners from the technical standpoint.

We often say that our field engineers have 'the hardest job at Canonical' because customers can ask about any aspect of our solutions and products and expect a thoughtful, well-informed answer. We always want to do the best thing for our partners and customers, regardless of our company interests, and field engineers are the people we trust to ensure that is true.

Location : This is a home-based role, we are hiring worldwide.

What your day will look like

  • Understand Ubuntu, Linux, networking and services in real-world environments
  • Architect cloud infrastructure solutions like Kubernetes, Kubeflow, OpenStack, Ceph, and Spark either On-Premises or in Public Cloud (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
  • Architect and integrate popular open source software such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Kafka, Cassandra and NGINX
  • Help partners to offer and architect joint solutions utilizing Canonical's technologies on top of the public clouds and in the data center
  • Design and publish joint Reference Architectures and perform technical validations with various partners
  • Prepare and run onboarding sessions/workshops with various partners' teams to promote Canonical products and solutions

  • Extensive experience with Linux (Ubuntu preferred), Kubernetes, Ceph, software automation

The role entails

  • Manage a growing engineering team to optimise the quality and velocity of both development and operations
  • Identify and measure team health indicators

  • Ensure proper team focus on priorities, milestones, and deliverables
  • Work to meet service level agreements with customer deployments around the globe

  • Bachelors (or equivalent) education in a technology field
  • Proven track record of professional experience of either software delivery using Python, Go, C, C++, Java, or similar and/or managing operations teams

  • Experience with Linux system administration, Ubuntu/Debian a plus
  • Strong communication and cooperation skills

Aligned to a territory and working together with Sales and Account Cloud Engineers (ACEs), the Cloud Adoption Manager will primarily focus on the post-booking side of our customer s lifecycle, ensuring successful and sustainable cloud consumption growth.

The Cloud Adoption Manager will collaborate closely, as needed, with the relevant TCE teams to agree on specific activities and/or deliverables required in each of the accounts they are managing. The ultimate goal is to improve usage and usage growth of Oracle Cloud while also creating a robust customer experience across the entire cloud adoption lifecycle.

Typical activities:

  1. Drive a fast and smooth Customer activation:
    • Strong focus on Activation for new cloud customers and/or workloads, minimizing time to first value and accelerating consumption growth.
    • Equip the customer with the relevant knowledge for early usage.
  2. Manage the customer s Adoption Plan:
    • Continuously monitor and review Adoption Plan with the customer to guarantee the progress according to their expectations, facilitating the value realization, guarantee success in this Critical Milestone (Go Live as an example) and provide longer-term customer assistance.
    • Pro-actively monitor customer environment, assess risk and build mitigation plan.
    • Detect and flag potential new workloads or implementation opportunities.
  3. Energize Customers interest by sharing information and facilitating connection with relevant Oracle activities.
  4. Removing barriers:
    • Assure progress and prompt resolution of SRs and escalations by engaging relevant teams and advocating for customers, while proactively identifying structural issues affecting customer use of Oracle Cloud and building up a resolution plan with relevant teams.
    • Act as a customer advocate for product features and requirements.

To fulfill the role of a CAM we are looking for individuals matching the following profile:

  1. Proven experience in Tech Cloud engineering roles with a track record of successful customer engagements.
  2. Passionate about Technology with Breadth and Depth knowledge:
    • Solid understanding of cloud technology landscape; hands-on experience (or certification) with Oracle, AWS, GCP or Azure is a plus.
    • Very strong experienced individual in a sales lifecycle with OCI architect experience/certifications.
    • Great experience of our database technologies.
  3. IT Market Literacy - able to advise on technology standard methodologies by understanding the Cloud market trends and their impact on various industries.
  4. High Energy and social skills.
  5. Focus on Customer Centricity: Always looking to anticipate customer needs and offer the most relevant advice, education or standard methodology. Enjoys customer success:
    • Communication
    • Project Management
    • Focused on results
    • Strong listening and coordination skills
    • Problem-solving abilities, strong task planning and delegation skills. Is Pro-active and demonstrates lateral thinking.
  6. Customer Lifecycle awareness:
    • Able to understand the customers existing IT landscape, business requirements and their definition of success.

    • Partners with all LOBs inside TCE organization.
