English Language Trainers - Saudi Construction Skills Training Centre
PINZ has been approached by a Saudi group to provide training and management services for a construction skills training centre in the Jazan Province for an initial pilot period of 6.5 months. Around 500 Saudi male school leavers and ‘second chance’ learners aged 18-24 years with beginner English levels will be enrolled. The language of instruction will be English. The program objectives are to provide sufficient basic skills for trainees to enter the workforce of their sponsor and continue into further study that will articulate into an overall two-year diploma.
English Language TrainersPINZ is seeking expression of interest from qualified ESL Trainers interested in working in a Middle Eastern setting, focusing on passing on their knowledge and experience to sponsored trainees requiring English language (and separately trades) training in the construction and building industry.
The contract for this project is not yet confirmed and signed; a final decision will be made within the next one to two weeks. If PINZ and the Saudi group sign a contract, initially 25 ESL Trainers are required to start in late August 2013. The minimum commitment is 6.5 months from 31 August 2013 to 12 March 2014, including working through the Christmas 2013/2014 period. If the contract is extended beyond March 2014, contracts will be renewable by mutual agreement.
English Studies ProgramTrimester One (T1) runs from 7 Sept to 4 Dec 2013, and Trimester Two (T2) from 14 Dec 2013 to 12 Mar 2014. The training programs are divided into English and trade-related topics. ESL Trainers will teach the English curriculum.
T1’s ESL program will focus on basic English skills to build the foundation for a more specialist technical vocabulary starting in the subsequent trimester.
Expression of Interest Requirements- Native English speaker
- Citizen of Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, UK, or US (dual nationality with an Arabic-speaking background will be considered)
- Minimum of 5 years post-qualification relevant work experience
- Have tertiary qualifications related to ESL teaching (minimum of CELTA/DELTA certificates or higher)
- Prepared to relocate to Saudi on an unaccompanied basis due to limited family facilities and services in Jazan province
- Ability to provide at least 3 work referees who have monitored or supervised you in a relevant ESL Trainer role
- All ESL Trainers need to be male given Saudi cultural sensitivities
- Age ranges are flexible

**Basic Function**:
The Speech-Language Pathologist is a professional who provides a range of speech-language pathology services, for patients with various speech, language "swallowing" and communication disorders.
**Scope**:
Working within Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare Nursing & Clinical Services Department in Dhahran, Al Hasa, Udhailiyah, Ras Tanura, and Abqaiq.
- Following a valid referral from any JHAH professional, the Speech-Language Pathologist is responsible for screening the patient and identifying the most appropriate plan of care. The Speech-Language Pathologist conducts comprehensive assessments for patients with various disorders, such as (but not limited to): Language and Articulation disorders, Apraxia, Dysarthria, Stuttering, Voice disorders, Dysphagia and Feeding disorders and other cognitive-linguistic disorders. The Speech-Language Pathologist provides assessment and management services to both pediatric and adult patients with various diagnosis such as, (but not limited to): Developmental language delays, Autism, Downs Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Selective mutism, Social-communication disorders, Hearing impairment, Aphasia, and other Neuro-behavioral medical conditions.
- The Speech-Language Pathologist provides interventions that may include one-on-one weekly therapy sessions, group therapy sessions, parent coaching, and conducting parent workshops. The Speech-Language Pathologist is responsible for recording, and evaluating the patients’ responses and progress throughout therapy, with planned periodic re-evaluations to update the patient’s goals.
- The Speech-Language Pathologist collaborates with schedulers and other clerical staff in the clinic in managing all administrative patient care related duties. Seeks continued developmental improvement from other SLPs in the clinic and reports to the SLP- Team Lead or Supervisor of Rehabilitation Services.
- Achieves core competency skills in a minimum of two SLP areas (E.g. fluency, voice, articulation etc.)
- Conducts oneself ethically within the scope of practice and responsibilities for an Speech-Language Pathologist. Work hours are assigned to meet operational needs. Hours may include on call and scheduled overtime.
- Direction is through the service team leader and Rehabilitation Unit Supervisor.
**Principal Contacts**:
- Ongoing with patients and their families home caregivers for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the speech-language pathology plan of care; with new hire and newly assigned staff for orientation and integration into the unit; routinely with Physicians/Surgeons, nurses and other medical staff members to report changes in the patient's condition and/or needs, and coordinate the speech language pathology/rehabilitation program.
- Occasional public and community contact through communicating policy changes, revisions, and/or introduction of new work rules.
- Occasional with other JHAH personnel and outside services.
**Principal Duties**:
**1) ASSESSMENT**:
- Performs a comprehensive assessment for the referred/identified disorder in addition to conducting a detailed oral-motor skills assessment and a complete review of the patient’s medical history.
- Establishes functional goals, and designs a treatment plan in line with patient and family centered care.
**2) IMPLEMENTATION/INTERVENTIONS**:
- Provides Intervention services that will depend on the patient’s diagnosis and special needs ensuring optimal care delivery.
- Provides individual and group based therapy sessions to facilitate the patient’s functional communication skills.
- Communicates effectively with patient, family, caregivers, colleagues and members of the multidisciplinary team to promote maximum benefit of care and rehabilitation.
- Provides evaluation / progress reports for medical charts and/ or in response to medical liaison requests and /or Medical Referral Committee, reviewed and approved by the SLP- Team lead/Supervisor.
- Creates a functional home-program for the patient to practice at home, incorporating demonstration sessions to ensure parent coaching for implementation of the home program.
**3) EVALUATION**:
- Assesses the effectiveness of treatment, re-evaluates the patient periodically and modifies treatment approaches to achieve goals.
- Assesses educational needs of the patient, family, or caregiver and provides education and educational material to meet those needs, documenting intervention in the Patient Teaching Record (PTR)
- Refers patients to appropriate services based on the evaluation of patient’s needs.

Job Description
Suitably qualified and experienced candidates are invited to apply for a position as a Lecturer in the English Language Department. Located in Dhahran, on the Arabian Gulf, KFUPM is an English-medium university of science, technology, and business. With around 10,000 undergraduates, KFUPM attracts the top 2% of MENA students and is ranked in the top 175 universities worldwide. The ELD typically has 25% of those students enrolled in any one semester. We expect to recruit new male and female faculty for the Department.
The English Language Department (ELD) teaches three undergraduate English courses:
- An Introduction to Academic Discourse (freshmen composition, reading, and academic vocabulary)
- An Introduction to Report Writing (source-based writing, presentation skills, and term report)
- Academic and Professional Communication (advanced research and report writing skills, job-seeking strategies, business correspondence, and presentation skills)
Job Responsibility
The academic calendar consists of two 15-week semesters (fall and spring), each followed by two weeks allocated to final examinations. ELD faculty teach four classes per day, three days per week and have five office hours per week. They teach two of the three undergraduate courses each semester and typically have responsibility for between 100 to 120 students.

Qualifications
· Applicants need a first degree in any discipline and a master’s degree or PhD in a TESOL / TEFL -related discipline (e.g., TESOL , Applied Linguistics, English, Creative Writing, Journalism) from a top-500 university on QS rankings.
· A CELTA or a DELTA would be an advantage.
· Applicants should also have a minimum of five years’ experience full-time teaching English for Academic Purposes in a range of international contexts.

Ensures through his/her actions, either directly or indirectly, that a superior quality of medical treatment, compassion and understanding is given to every patient served at the Care National Hospital.
Evaluates plans and performs Speech and hearing therapy treatments.
Writes evaluation assessment and maintain adequate treatment records and progress notes for review by medical staffs.
Carries own patient case load and responsible for all duties this entails.
Participates in departmental meeting, case conference and clinical in-service.
Prepares patients for discharge from the hospital by teaching those precautions, basic procedures and giving home instructions if necessary.
Communicates all pertinent changes in patients' condition to the Physicians and medical staff.
Promptly completes daily documentation of treatment.
Ensures good maintenance in the treatment area. Reports to Department Head any damage and out of order equipment.
Acts as an advisor in clinical problems discusses diagnosis and treatment plans with medical team.
Assists the attending Physician in determining appropriate speech therapy treatment; reviews and evaluates patient's records; schedules, performs and evaluates patient tests; recommends the most appropriate treatment for specific disabilities; submits a written treatment program to the Physician for concurrence.
Maintains complete records of the patients' original diagnosis, evaluation and treatment plan; records and evaluates patients' response and discusses progress with the Physician/Surgeon; recommends changes; advises when the patient is ready for discharge from the therapy room.
Demonstrates proper treatment procedures to ward personnel; instructs patients and families in procedures to be continued at home. As requested, plans and conducts lectures and training programs for medical staff, students and community groups; plans and participates in the speech and Hearing therapy research programs.
Keeps abreast of new techniques or equipments and recommends or implements them as applicable.
Complies with hospital dress code.
Performs other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of the employee's knowledge, skills and abilities.
Patient and Family Education
Involves the patient/families in plan of care and respects patients/families regarding their goals and choices of patient care.
Provides health promotion and health teaching thru methods appropriate to a patients’ developmental level, learning needs, readiness and ability to learn, language preference, culture and situations.
Allots time necessary to assess, plan implement and evaluate patient education provided to patients/families with appropriate documentation.
Utilize the nursing process in creating and coordinating teaching plans for individualized patients.
Create patient care assignments as per competency regarding surgical procedures.
Education:
BS degree in Speech and language Therapy from an accredited institution, plus the required clinical internship for professional registration.
Holder of Professional license to practice.
Passed Saudi Council Registration exam.
Current CPR certification.
Experience :
The speech language and swallowing specialist with experience of at least 2 years for Inpatient and outpatient Rehabilitation program.
Skills:
Fluency in verbal and written English. Preferable also in Arabic
Knowledgeable of computer skills.
Ability to exhibits professionalism and excellent interpersonal communication skills.
Must be willing and able to work with multi-cultural and physical handicapped.
Good in customer care and team work.
