Heavy Equipment & Fleet Operations Manager

Job Purpose:

To oversee, manage, and optimize the movement, operation, and maintenance of heavy equipment, construction vehicles, and transportation fleets. Ensures the efficient use of resources, compliance with safety regulations, and support for ongoing construction and logistics operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan, organize, and supervise the daily movement of heavy equipment, trucks, and company vehicles to meet project and transportation needs.
• Monitor fleet utilization, fuel consumption, and equipment performance to maximize efficiency and reduce operating costs.
• Coordinate with project managers, site engineers, and logistics teams to allocate equipment and vehicles as required.
• Ensure regular preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs of all heavy equipment and vehicles to minimize downtime.
• Implement and enforce safety procedures, traffic regulations, and compliance with local transportation laws.
• Manage and supervise drivers, operators, and mechanics, ensuring discipline, training, and high performance.
• Maintain accurate records of equipment availability, work orders, licenses, registrations, and insurance.
• Develop and monitor budgets for fleet operations, including fuel, maintenance, and spare parts.
• Negotiate and manage contracts with service providers, workshops, and suppliers of spare parts.
• Provide periodic reports to senior management regarding fleet status, costs, and operational improvements.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field (preferred).
• Minimum 7–10 years' experience in fleet management and heavy equipment operations within the construction or logistics sector.
• Strong knowledge of heavy equipment, construction vehicles, and transportation regulations.
• Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
• Proficiency in fleet management software and MS Office applications.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
