**Your new role, what's involved?**
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of tunnel construction sites to assess compliance with safety regulations, project specifications, and industry standards.
- Review and interpret safety plans, risk assessments, and method statements to identify potential hazards and ensure appropriate mitigation measures are in place.
- Monitor the implementation of safety protocols and procedures, including traffic management, confined space entry, emergency response, and hazardous materials handling.
- Collaborate with project stakeholders, including contractors, engineers, and regulatory authorities, to address safety concerns, resolve issues, and implement corrective actions.
- Provide guidance and support to project teams on safety-related matters, including training, awareness campaigns, and toolbox talks.
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, documenting findings, identifying root causes, and recommending preventive measures to prevent recurrence.
- Prepare comprehensive reports and documentation on safety performance, including observations, findings, recommendations, and corrective actions taken.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements related to tunnel safety, incorporating relevant advancements into project strategies and procedures.
- Participate in safety meetings, workshops, and training sessions to enhance safety awareness and promote a culture of safety excellence among project stakeholders.
- Uphold WSP's commitment to safety, sustainability, and quality excellence in all aspects of project execution.
**We'd love to hear from you if you have**:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field; professional certifications in safety management are advantageous.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in tunnel construction and safety inspection, with a focus on road, bridges, highway, and tunnel projects.
- Proven track record of working with top international construction consultants and ensuring compliance with safety regulations and standards.
- Strong understanding of tunnel construction methods, safety procedures, and risk management principles.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively liaise with diverse stakeholders and foster collaborative relationships.
- Proficiency in safety management systems, incident investigation techniques, and relevant software tools for data analysis and reporting.

Under direct supervision, performs basic and routine duties in a wide range of environmental, health and safety disciplines to achieve compliance with the ES&H standards along with federal and state regulatory requirements.
Assists in the development, implementation and maintenance of safety and health programs, systems and procedures.
Assists in monitoring hazards and diseases that could be present in the work area.
Works with others to investigate accidents, injuries and complaints concerning hazards in the workplace.
Participates in recommending improvement in processes, design, procedures and equipment to minimize hazards.
Participates in employee training, emergency preparedness and assures the quality of programs.
