POSITION SUMMARY
The Electrical Engineer BESS shall be responsible for supporting and enabling a reliable & efficient operation and maintenance of a 450MW Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in the NEOM region. The main objective is to ensure safe, reliable & efficient operation of the BESS plant by ensuring the safety of plant personnel and assets.
NATURE & SCOPE
The main functions of this position are:
- Possess expert-level technical, electrical engineering management skills and knowledge in BESS Plant Electrical engineering, Operations and Maintenance tasks, along with excellent communication and influencing skills.
- Support the Operation & Maintenance of BESS plant systems.
- Actively participate in plant O&M activities, commissioning activities & safety compliance workshops.
- Propose continuous improvement suggestions to elevate & enable the best plant O&M practices.
- Develop systems and practices to encourage continuous workflow improvements and increase asset productivity and efficiency.
- Organize workshops to discuss critical issues with proposed solutions based on root cause analysis or revised OEM recommendations.
- Participate in EPC contractor site installation, testing, and commissioning activities from an O&M perspective.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure the team monitors, maintains & restores BESS systems (batteries, inverters, and associated systems) within the minimum time frame by performing necessary troubleshooting methods in line with OEM recommendations.
- Assist Construction & QC with inspection and punch lists of installation and vendor packages.
- Review mechanical completion for systems and sub-systems packages.
- Organize and document pre-commissioning and commissioning procedures and participate in system performance testing.
- Review and ensure that the TurnOver Packages / Final Documentation is complete from a maintenance perspective.
- Develop plant operation and maintenance procedures and work instructions based on OEM manuals and standard industry practices.
- Identify & develop operational and strategic spares for smooth and reliable plant operation.
- Develop the technical scope of work for contractors or service providers.
- Support & supervise the team to ensure the best O&M practices are being followed & executed.
- Enhance maintenance planning & scheduling by considering resource availability (tools, equipment & manpower) to optimize maintenance time & cost.
- Propose continuous improvement programs contributing to safe, reliable, productive & cost-effective O&M practices.
- Organize & participate in root cause analysis workshops for any plant issues.
- Generate comprehensive incident reports for any events occurring in the plant in coordination with the operation team.

- Coordinate & provide necessary data & documents to the Engineering team for analysis & review upon request.

TEAM MANAGEMENT & TRAINING

WARRANTY MANAGEMENT
- Generate warranty claims for defects to various suppliers under the warranty period.
- Ensure required information, data & documents are maintained & submitted to suppliers timely upon request.
SPARE PART MANAGEMENT
- Maintain spare part storage conditions as per OEM recommendations.
- Monitor critical spare part & consumable availability in the warehouse to avoid downtime or delays in equipment restoration/maintenance.
REPORTING MATRIX & DOCUMENTATION
- Audit the Maintenance team to ensure relevant documents are maintained in line with O&M agreements & OEM recommendations.
- Manage plant maintenance records effectively.
- Report any plant issues to the line manager and concerned departments promptly along with possible root cause, restoration plan & future preventive actions.
HSSE
- Ensure the O&M team & subcontractors/suppliers obtain PTW for each job and monitor onsite for HSE compliance mitigations.
- Engage with the site team to identify new hazards from ongoing or new tasks.
- Participate in reviewing/revising task risk assessments (TRA) regularly.
- Assist in executing emergency response drills and investigations as needed.
- Ensure PTWs for all activities are issued as per approved WMSRA/PTW/LOTO system.

The incumbent will be providing overall technical leadership to the WSP clients in the region and will be acting as the single point of contact for all the middle east clients while also being involved in the business development activities.
The key objectives of the roles are to:
Power system analysis of transmission and distribution projects.
Feasibility studies, masterplans, despatch studies, renewable integration, grid code reviews
Preparation of Renewable generation connection schemes from distribution to utility scale generation including determining techno-economical optimum amount of renewable generation.
Load flow study, fault level calculations, harmonic analysis, voltage stability and transient stability analysis on transmission, distribution, and industrial power systems, using DIgSILENT, PSS/E, PLEXOS, ETAP, CYME PSAF, ASPEN OneLiner, ASPEN database and IPSA+.
Review all the Power System Studies technical submittals by EPC contractor / Developers in reference to Client’s Electricity Transmission Code and International standards as applicable.
Review the Power system models developed by EPC contractor specific to each study.
Attend all the required meetings & address all the technical clarifications raised by EPC contractor / Developer.
Attend the FAT & SAT visits to ensure all the performance criteria are met related to grid compliance requirements. The test shall be conducted with RTDS or other similar tools.
Review the updated model received from EPC based on FAT/SAT reports and ensure all the grid compliance requirements are met as agreed during the detail design stage.
Assist Client to incorporate equipment models provided by EPC contractor into the TRANSCO network PSSE & PSCAD models suitable for various planning studies (steady state and dynamics).
The power system studies review work shall briefly include, but not limited to the following:
Reactive power capability study
Grid impact study
Transient and dynamic stability studies
Insulation co-ordination study
Switching transient study
Faulted transient switching study
Transformer Energization study
AC/DC harmonics and flicker study
AC/DC harmonic filter sizing report

The RoleDGM's Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS) is a high-growth area that enables electric distribution utilities to monitor, manage, control, and optimize the grid. As an Intermediate ADMS Project Consultant, you will be involved in all aspects of delivering systems to our customers. You will leverage your experience with utility operations, ADMS systems, and business processes to lead and advise utility clients during ADMS implementation. - Promote the importance of project change management to build knowledge and support within ADMS projects.

- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.
