- **Have a thorough understanding of flight characteristics and their effects on electronic systems. Systems includes search/ navigational radar, communication, navigation, electronic countermeasures, data computing, recording equipment, weapons computer, and inertial measurement systems.**:

- ** Be able to use test equipment such as voltmeters, signal generators, sweep/ pulse generators, dual trace oscilloscopes, deviation meters, sweep carts, precision power, and frequency measuring devices. JOB PURPOSE

BAE Systems is the UK Government’s nominated Prime Contractor under the Government-to-Government arrangements that are in place to provide equipment, support and training to Saudi Arabia. We provide maintenance of Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) aircraft and train RSAF and Royal Saudi Naval Force personnel safely in a training environment in how to use their aircraft, equipment and weapons.

The job holder is directly responsible to the Academic Manager Scientific Studies and their management team. They are a key member of the O&AT training delivery team at the King Faisal Air Academy (KFAA) and is primarily responsible for

  • The ongoing design and development of Avionics courseware,
  • The teaching of Avionics to Officer Cadets,
  • The maintenance of Officer Cadet discipline within the classroom environment,
  • The assessment of Officer Cadets during the Scientific Studies phase, and
  • The recording and reporting of any issues that affect training delivery.

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES

Instruct: The job holder will be expected to

  • Instruct in relevant subject areas according to the approved syllabus.
  • Deliver or supervise demonstrations in relevant subject areas.
  • Conduct visits to relevant areas of interest.

Assess: The job holder will be expected to

  • Conduct regular assessments to ensure cadets are progressing academically.
  • Conduct phase-end examinations to ensure training objectives have been achieved.

Discipline: The job holder will be expected to

  • Adopt and promote independent learning and a military ethos in line with the training environment.
  • Provide on-going evaluation of cadets’ discipline as part of their final assessment.
  • Counsel and motivate cadets, where applicable, on relevant academic and discipline issues.

  • Regularly review courseware for relevant subject areas as part of the SAT.

RECRUITMENT SPECIFICATION

  • Experience in the design and development of courseware and training materials.
  • Fluency in English to preferably IELTS 6.5 level if non-native speaker.
  • IT literate with knowledge and experience of Microsoft Office.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Able to prioritise and meet deadlines.

Plus one of the following:

Either an Academic Background with:

  • Relevant Master’s degree (preferably an MSc), or equivalent.
  • Completion of a one year post graduate teaching course, an Instructional Technique (IT) course or equivalent.
  • Relevant instructional and teaching extensive proven experience prior to appointment .

OR Ex-Military personnel with:

  • Minimum of 1500 flight hours.
  • Completion of either a one year post graduate teaching course, a ground Instructional Technique (IT) course or a comparable course (for example Qualified Flying Instructor (QFI), Qualified Navigation Instructor (QNI), Qualified Weapons Instructor (QWI)).
  • Preferably with experience as a QFI, QNI, QWI in an Operational Conversion Unit or Squadron .

  • Perform electrical assembly, integration and modification, system repairs, first level Quality inspection and functional tests of aircraft and components

  • Analyze performance and isolates malfunctions of integrated avionic instrument and flight control systems

  • Conduct checkouts of avionic instrument and flight control systems and components (including repairs, overhauls, modifications, alignments, installation)

  • Inspects avionic instrument and flight control systems

  • Ensure that all work performed is recorded on the appropriate paperwork and signed for on a progressive basis

  • Ensure the correct use and control of aircraft parts and materials

  • Verify aircraft status regarding scheduled tasks and deferred items is updated, the aircraft condition is serviceable and sign the Release to Service of the aircraft

  • Perform duties as assigned by the Site Manager, ensuring that all work is completed in a timely fashion and meets the delivery quality requirements of the Airbus

  • Conduct on-the-job training activity

  • Train personnel on the use of maintenance manuals

  • Train personnel in all safety directives and FOD procedures

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Overview

Functions as an Avionics/Electrician Technician, specializing in aircraft electrical systems. Conducts unit-level maintenance on aircraft electrical, navigational, and avionics components, adhering to the specific aircraft Operators Manual, Maintenance Test Flight Manual, Check List Manual, and customer or specific directives. Diagnoses and rectifies malfunctions in aircraft systems and components, including solid-state and transistorized devices, following relevant technical manuals, directives, and safety procedures. Utilizes common and precision measuring tools, performs operational checks on aircraft electrical systems, and tests, troubleshoots, and repairs electrical systems test sets and diagnostic equipment. Assists the Customer in requisitioning and maintaining Shop and Bench stock items for repairing aircraft avionics systems and instruments. Performs operator maintenance on common and special tools, AGSE, and PGSE, prepares aircraft maintenance forms and records, and ensures all related operations are carried out safely.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures that aircraft electrical maintenance functional activities and procedures among designated organizations are planned, coordinated, integrated, and synchronized to achieve established platform operational readiness (OR) rates IAW contractual requirements.

  • Responsible for the compliance with established maintenance systems, processes, procedures and reports that provide immediate situational awareness of platform OR rates.

  • Establishes daily aircraft electrical maintenance operational goals, objectives and priorities for implementation in-order to achieve stated OR rates.

  • Oversees the daily aircraft electrical maintenance management of individually assigned aircraft in support of the Production Control (PC) Manager, in conjunction with the Aviation Logistics for related platform parts and spares.

  • Works within the maintenance quality control processes, procedures, and standards.

  • Directs inquires, investigations, and research analysis related to aviation electrical maintenance of the aircraft and supporting maintenance activities to the PC Manager.

  • Coordinates activities and requirements for maintenance operations support with the PC Manager.

  • Coordinates through Production Control for daily and weekly maintenance training activities.

  • In coordination with the PC and Flight Operations Managers, supports the Downed Aircraft Recovery Team (DART) processes and procedures.

  • Other tasks as directed by management.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma required; Associates degree preferred.

  • FAA A&P certificate.

  • Five (5) years’ experience as an AH-64E, UH-60M, OH-58D aircraft electrician.

  • Experience:

  • Graduate of a US Military aircraft electrician maintenance course or civilian equivalent.

  • Previous experience in unit level electrical repairs on the supported aircraft.

  • Qualified by the appropriate USG armed forces aircraft electrician maintenance course or civilian equivalent required.

  • Proficient in the use of computer-hosted interactive technical manuals, aircraft maintenance forms, and other aircraft related documentation.

  • Possess a valid U.S driver’s license and Passport.

  • DD214 required for military experience.

  • Must be able to pass employment and deployment qualification requirements that include medical, drug testing, background checks, etc.
