Role Purpose Insights Research & Advisory is looking for a Tax Associate Consultant for our International and Corporate Transformation Tax team. We are seeking an individual with a diverse tax and business consulting background, and keen to provide value-added tax and consulting services to our GCC based clients.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & ACTIVITIES
Key Accountabilities Key Activities
1. Tax Compliance & Filing • Obtain and verify client data related to VAT and Withholding Tax.
• File Zakat, Income Tax, VAT, and Withholding Tax returns for clients.
• Assist clients in preparing and submitting replies to tax assessments.
• Recommend tax strategies aligned with business objectives.
• Stay updated on evolving tax laws and regulations across GCC countries.
2. Client Advisory, Planning & Support • Respond to clients’ regular queries regarding tax matters.
• Communicate with clients to resolve tax-related issues.
• Coordinate with clients on e-invoicing matters in KSA.
• Support the corporate finance team in reviewing Zakat and VAT components in financial models.
• Aid in tax due diligence processes.
• Prepare Transfer Pricing reports including Local and Master Files.
• Conduct data gathering and required analyses for transfer pricing reports.
• Liaise with clients to collect necessary data and resolve queries.
3. Reporting & Communication • Deliver relevant reports to management and other stakeholders as needed.
• Undertake all other tax-related assignments and projects as required.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Knowledge / Skills · Proficiency in Microsoft Office with demonstrated abilities in Excel.
· The ability to develop strong working relationships and maintain the work ethics.
· Expert level experience in multitasking with ability to set priorities as per given situation.
· Ability to stick to time constraints.
· Understanding of GCC Tax Laws.
· Experience of statutory audit will be a plus.

Certifications
· Bachelor’s with ACCA/CA (Finalist)Experience · 3 – 5 years relevant experience in the top audit firms.

The opportunityEY is looking for a Senior Associate to join the Indirect Tax team to advise clients on VAT treatment of new and complex transactions and help resolve classification or other disputes and issues with the authorities.
Your key responsibilities Client responsibilitiesYou are expected to work effectively as a member of a worldwide network of professional advisors, sharing responsibility, providing support, maintaining communication and updating senior team members on progress. You must also collaborate with a team of VAT professionals to combine diverse cross-border transaction experience with local tax knowledge across a broad spectrum of industries. Participating and assisting in preparing for meetings with management teams will be part of your role.
You will be assisting in preparing reports and schedules that will be delivered to clients and other parties. You will also develop and maintain productive working relationships with client personnel and build strong internal relationships within the VAT practice, Indirect Tax and across other service lines.
Technical responsibilitiesYou must build a deep understanding of the Customs Law and its practical application across the countries. You are expected to understand and apply the regional Free Trade Agreements and key customs concepts such as valuation, classification and origin. You will be identifying and discussing VAT considerations for clients to be aware of in their outbound investments. Engaging with colleagues in overseas offices to deliver VAT advice in respect of global jurisdictions will be part of your responsibilities. You will also prepare for the potential introduction of VAT in the different countries and to discuss with clients how this may impact them as well as work with internal teams to provide indirect tax expertise for audit and transaction projects.
Skills and attributes for successYou must be able to build strong client relationships & excellently communicate in a range of situations in both written and oral English. You should also be able to identify areas of risk, carry out an effective review and know when to refer upwards. You are expected to be a client focused and commercially aware team player with the ability to build effective relationships at all levels. You must also possess project management skills, plan and prioritise work, meet deadlines, monitor own budget. You should also be able to solve problems creatively and pragmatically.
Qualifications & Experience- A degree in economics, finance, tax or accounting
- At least one year of relevant experience as Indirect Tax professional
- Experience working for a Big 4 accounting firm is preferred. However, we will consider candidates with from law firms or with relevant industry experience
- Customs duty advisory experience is preferable, but we will also consider candidates with VAT/GST advisory experience

About The Role

As one of the first members of our finance team, the Tax and Accounting Specialist will play a pivotal role in establishing robust accounting and tax processes from the ground up. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and coordinate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with local GAAP and IFRS.
- Ensure timely and accurate tax filings (VAT, Zakat, CIT) and monitor regulatory changes.
- Maintain a complete and accurate general ledger and support group-level financial consolidation.
- Oversee intercompany transactions, transfer pricing documentation, and cross-border tax matters.
