About the role:

Mechanical/Electrical reliability engineer is responsible for guiding efforts to ensure reliability and maintainability of assets. The engineer champions the implementation of reliability best practices and evaluates new technology and new ideas to continuously improve reliability of the plant’s assets.

You will be responsible for:

• Develop deep understanding of company, products, customers, goals, and business strategy; evaluate systems and processes; and identify areas for improvement.

Role responsibilities:

• Responsible for monitoring and implementing cyber security solutions in support of manufacturing operations, detecting and analyzing potentially compromised systems, performing root cause analysis, and supporting remediation efforts.

JOB SCOPE

Ensure day-to-day work of Turn around and projects are performed effectively, efficiently in alignment with set procedure. Provide Engineering & technical support to the Refinery’s Maintenance and Operational teams for specialized and highly complex rotating machinery (large reciprocating compressors and pumps) problems.
Provide guidance and solutions to rotor dynamics problems. Review routine/preventive/predictive maintenance activities and ensure compliance with operational priorities. Ensure operational standards are followed in compliance with operational priorities.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Ensure day-to-day work are performed effectively, efficiently, and safely in order to increase refinery profit, enhance plant reliability/integrity, and promote safety & compliance to environmental standards.

2. Assist and support to enhance the effectiveness of operations and maintenance in Utilities and Upgrading. Develop reliability strategies and programs for operating systems and equipment.

3. Provide information, data and recommendations concerning operations and maintenance issues and activities to optimize production and equipment.
4. Work with cross-functional teams including engineering, maintenance, operation and process to resolve reliability problems. Lead root cause failures analysis to avoid future failures. Develop and maintain reliability programs in the assigned areas.
5. Support Reliability Central Maintenance (RCM) and Risk-Based Inspection (RBI) methodologies, performance review and auditing. Conduct regular reviews to asset performance improvement programs to identify problems and opportunities to improve efficiency and cost effectiveness.

6. Learn to review and identify the reliability bad actors and recommend the action plan to tackle them. Support maintenance and revalidate the spares & PM requirements to ensure reliable operation of the plant.

7. Assemble and analyze reliability data from field studies or data base, and correlates the data of analysis using well defined engineering techniques/principles/procedures.

8. Assist in planning and procedures for preventive/predictive maintenance on operating equipment, including Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE) of vessels, piping, PSV’s and equipment to improve reliability and reduce costs. Installs or assists in the application of these procedures and interpretation of results. Monitors equipment performance and condition, and makes necessary changes to plans/procedures to improve reliability of equipment.

9. Learn to conduct independent evaluation, selection, adoption and modification via Codes, maintenance techniques, procedures and criteria in devising new approaches to problems encountered.

10. Assist in records management requirements for Fixed Equipment, including paper files, SAP and miscellaneous computer programs.

11. Assist in the area of equipment upgrading and maintenance emphasizing the cost-effective selection, application and installation. Coordinates and schedules maintenance shutdown activities, utilizing maintenance supervisors and planners as resources. Assures that quality standards are met and Standards, Guidelines and Protocols are adhered to.

12. Make frequent plant visits and discuss operational issues with respective OME teams with purpose of resolving, upgrading, maintaining, and improving the equipment performance as required.

13. Participate and contribute in troubleshooting meetings to attend the equipment failures, system failures and other process abnormalities. Discuss abnormalities with technicians, engineers and Technical support engineers and operations shift.

14. . Learn to conduct research on equipment’s, processes and systems to troubleshoot and resolve performance issues and abnormalities. Regularly evaluate work, processes and outcomes to identify areas for improvement.

15. . Conduct investigation on equipment failures, system failures and identify the root causes and provide sound recommendations to prevent future failure or incidents. Participate in Root Cause Analysis on plant assets malfunction and provide feedback to prepare reports.

16. . Fully comprehend and adhere to relevant safety and environmental policies as per YASREF Standards. Participate in HSE activities (such as reporting near miss cases, proposing safety suggestions and safety quizzes) as required

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Equivalent.

In this role you will be responsible for implementing departmental strategies for optimizing Air Quality in Yanbu Industrial City and provide technical advice and guidance to the Royal Commission for Yanbu’s Environmental Protection and Control Department (RCY-EPCD) as needed. This will be undertaken through review of Environmental Impact Assessments and special studies, field visits, research for BAT and preparing scientific technical reports.

Reports directly to the Team Leader Air Quality and indirectly to the SAPL Department Manager EPCD. Will support the department in daily operations, interfaces with industrial customers, new investors, EPCD members and senior RC Management. Receives administrative and technical direction in terms of broad project objectives from EPCD Department Director, SAPL Department Manager and Section Manager.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Providing technical advice and recommendations in response to scope of works for and including the environmental impact assessment itself, from an air perspective.
• Expert review of documentation relating to the RCER permitting process (predominantly permit application package forms and supporting information).
• Assessment of air pollution control Best Available Technique and the verification of proposed measures’ applicability and suitability for the given process.
• Development and implementation of a system for reviewing air emissions inventories submitted by industry as part of their permit requirements utilizing international best practices, procedures and guidelines.

We are seeking a Static Equipment (Mechanical) Engineer to join our Yanbu Refinery Engineering Division.

Yanbu Refinery is a 250 MBD capacity refinery located in the west coast of Saudi Arabia and responsible for meeting the demand of refined products like Gasoline, Diesel, and Jet Fuel in the western region of Saudi Arabia.

Your primary role will be to conduct special studies and analyses, such as necessary mechanical calculations for our static equipment such as piping, pressure vessels and shell and tube heat exchangers.

• Perform field troubleshooting to support plant operations, in terms of stationary mechanical equipment integrity, participate in major T&Is/emergency plant shutdowns as required and support maintenance organizations in the repair procedures for piping, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, fin fans, tanks, fired heaters, maintaining equipment integrity and review of material specification and technical quotations. In addition, extend engineering support to review and approve contractor repair procedures or designs.
• Participate in facilities audits, insurance, HAZOP Studies, Compliance Review, and other internal or external assessments.
• Support Capital and expense project review for drawings, calculations, scope of work, material specifications, vendor quotations and detailed purchase order requirements.
• Perform all piping and mechanical equipment calculations such as minimum wall thickness for internal and external pressure, tube sheet minimum thickness, Fire Heaters calculations, branch reinforcement calculations, MAWP calculations as per ASME B31.3/ASME VII Div 1/TEMA, hydrotest pressure, blind calculation, up-rating and de-rating of piping circuits and pressure vessels by following API 570/API 510, fitness for service to evaluate flaws per API 579, review pipe stress analysis, flange calculations, stability and buckling calculations for vessels, or other mechanical calculation as per applicable ASME and Saudi Aramco Standards.
• Perform mechanical technical assessments and calculations for plant reliability and integrity such as boiler assessment, heat exchangers assessment, spring hangers, firefighting equipment and systems, certain valves, Hot Taps calculations, etc.
• Develop in-house design package for expense projects by including scope of work, assembly/erection procedures, welding procedures, NDT requirements, material list and sketches/drawings.
• Perform mechanical reviews and revalidation of existing drawings such as piping plans, equipment SIS, data sheets, isometrics, etc.
• Conduct investigations as required for plant mechanical failures/trips, participate in risk assessment and HAZOP studies, and conduct revised standard review applicability.

• You must hold a Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• You must have a minimum of 12 years within the Refinery, NGLF or Petrochemical industry specifically in asset integrity of stationary equipment, with at least 8 years field experience working on plants major turnaround and field troubleshooting.
• You must have a thorough knowledge of best engineering practices, solid industry codes and standards background and use of engineering software.
