- JOB PURPOSE:
To drive and manage HSE improvement initiatives, ensuring development and maintenance of HSE systems across all NADEC business units, in accordance with national and global standards, while ensuring protection of employees’ life, health, and company assets, whilst maintaining business continuity.
Implemented through risk-based audits and H&S inspections, and reporting any deviations through all NADEC processes and procedures.
- KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Strategic Contribution
- Implement the annual business plan and targets and comply with the strategic agenda of the HSE, to deliver the NADEC vision and mission.
- Translate the strategy into operational business plans for the HSE, lead the performance and implement plans to achieve functional objectives and deliver the Company’s strategy
Leadership
- Direct the H&S-related activities of the Facility Management team, to ensure that all work is carried out safely, efficiently, and in line with the strategic project management plans, policies, and procedures.
- Build and lead a motivated, engaged, and competent team by setting priorities and objectives, managing performance, and providing ongoing feedback and coaching to meet functional challenges and goals.
- Serve as a role model to ensure employees’ awareness and commitment to the NADEC vision, mission and values, and corporate strategy, to establish a highly engaged and motivated team, and continuously improve performance.
Budgeting
- Support the preparation of the department budget and monitor financial performance versus the budget, so that the business is aware of anticipated costs/revenues, areas of unsatisfactory performance and potential improvement opportunities.
- Lead all HSE activities through all NADEC facilities (Haradh Project, Manufacturing, Dairy Farms, Agriculture, Sales Distribution Center and Supply Chain).
- Lead and coordinate the company’s HSE programs, including the implementation of an Occupational Health & Safety Management system (OHSMS).
- Create/develop H&S procedures and processes in accordance with National and International standards.
- Ensure the Company HSE policies, objectives, procedures and plans are in place, reviewed, maintained and effectively communicated through the organization where appropriate.
- Agree and set Health, Safety, and Environmental objectives, in conjunction with local and Senior Management and establish effective implementation plans.
- Ensure HSE risk management plans are carried out for all activities with significant hazards and foreseeable risks, provide guidance on completion of risk assessments and review as required.
- Act as site point of contact for communications of the sites with enforcement authorities, ensuring all communication is escalated and filed appropriately.
- Ensure distribution HSE system awareness among all the company employees through the implementation of defined training plans and report the training efficiency.
- Maintain and develop appropriate procedures for the prevention of emergency situations and, in the event of emergencies/crisis, for the co-ordination of proportionate, effective response, to emergency and crisis situations.
- Coordinate with area management to implement appropriate preventive maintenance plans for the HSE systems, tools and equipment.
- Lead the investigation of incidents which could have an adverse HSE impact whether within or outside the installation boundary.
- Generate overview reports to management on HSE system performance, including all incidents and areas for improvement and conduct/support the HSE management review meeting as per the provided schedule.
Policies, System, Processes and Procedures
- Manage the development and implementation of the Engineering policies, systems, processes and procedures, identifying potential areas for improvement, to ensure efficient and effective operation.
- Ensure compliance with corporate requirements on adherence to policies, procedures, and instructions related to all relevant regulatory directives, to ensure a safe and risk-free environment.
Change Management
- Motivate employees and contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of systems and processes, whilst always considering best practices.
- Ensure that all departmental reports and statements are completed timely manner and comply with local and international principles of governance and the organization's policies and standards.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:
Education and Certifications
- A degree in H&S or related discipline
- NEBOSH IGS and/or NVQ Level 5 (essential)
- IOSH Managing Safely Certified trainer (desirable)
Experience:
- 3 to 5 Years of relevant work experience in Health, Safety, and Environmental management, preferably within the FMCG or manufacturing sectors.
Skills:
- English (Written and Spoken)
- Arabic (Written and Spoken) Preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- H&S data analysis skills, to document, interrogate, and interpret trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

General Summary
The Assistant Store Manager helps maintain a clean, well-organized store with a customer-first focus. At the direction and delegation of the Store Manager, the Assistant Store Manager assists with supervision of store employees, management and presentation of merchandise, completion of paperwork, and preparation of deposits. The Assistant Store Manager also performs stocking and cashiering functions, and performs other duties as necessary to maximize profitability and customer satisfaction while protecting company assets and reducing losses.
DUTIES And ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Provide superior customer service leadership; greet and assist customers, and operate cash register and scanner to itemize the customer’s purchase.
- Open and close the store a minimum of two days per week.
- Assist Store Manager with scheduling employees, providing adequate training for employees, conducting safety meetings, and ensuring employee compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Follow company work processes to manage merchandise, including receiving, unpacking, stocking, restocking and rotating merchandise on shelves and building merchandise displays.
- Assist in maintaining accurate inventory levels by controlling damages, markdowns, scanning, paperwork, and facility controls.
- Assist in implementation and maintenance of planograms; ensure merchandise is presented according to established practices and Store Manager direction.
- Assist in ensuring financial integrity of the store through strict cashier accountability, key control, adherences to company security practices and cash control procedures; authorize and sign for refunds and overrides, count register tills, and deposit money in bank.
- Assist with management of the store in the Store Manager’s absence.
KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS:
- Effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of situations.
- Good organization skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
- Ability to perform cash register functions and generate reports.
- Knowledge of cash, facility, and safety control policies and practices.
- Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control.
- Ability to drive own vehicle to the bank to deposit money.
- High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
- One year of experience in a retail environment and six months supervisory experience preferred.
- Frequent walking and standing
- Frequent bending, stooping, and kneeling to run check out station, stock merchandise and unload trucks; which may also require the ability to push and/or pull rolltainers for stocking merchandise
- Frequent handling of merchandise and equipment such as handheld scanners, pricing guns, box cutters, merchandise containers, two-wheel dollies, U-boats (six-wheel carts), and rolltainers
- Frequent and proper lifting of up to 40 pounds; occasional lifting of up to 55 pounds
- Occasional climbing (using step ladder) up to heights of six feet
- Fast-paced environment; moderate noise level
- Occasional exposure to outside weather conditions
- Occasional or regular driving/providing own transportation to make bank deposits, attend management meetings and travel to other Dollar General stores.
