Job Duties

Under direct supervision, the Associate Engineer will perform assignments requiring knowledge and application of basic engineering principles. RESPONSIBILITIES

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:
  • BSc in Petroleum, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering (MSc/PhD preferred).

Experience:
  • Minimum 12-15 years in oil and gas, with significant experience in flow assurance for Middle East projects.
  • Strong background in multiphase flow modelling and simulation tools (e.g., OLGA, Pipesim).

Skills:
  • Deep understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and production chemistry.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

The Environmental Advisor develops and implements processes, procedures, work methods and initiatives in support of Subsea7's overall environmental strategies.

The Environmental Advisor is responsible for the direct management of Project HSE (specific to the Environmental aspects) delivery. Functionally reporting to the Middle East Business Unit HSSE Manager and to the Project HSSE Manager (and Project Managers) when allocated to Projects.

The role has accountability and expectations to work with the respective Project HSSE Manager (and Project Managers) within the Middle East Business Unit to support Project delivery. The role as allocated by the Middle East Business Unit HSSE Manager will also be expected to support the 'Win' strategy of the business through the delivery of HSE tender submissions.

Furthermore, the Environmental Advisor is expected to undertake an active and visible role in the day to day oversight of Project safety performance, to ensure Subsea7's Values are delivered consistently.

All personnel are expected to contribute to creating a positive HSSEQ culture within Subsea7 and ensure familiarity with and adherence to local HSSEQ codes and practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a positive HSE culture and behaviour across Subsea7 and particularly within their sphere of influence.
  • Champion the Subsea7 Critical Safety Behaviours Programme, setting the tone and leading by example.

  • Interprets new environmental legislation, standards, codes and regulations and inform the Company of any potential impact on their operational activities.
  • Ensure HSE capitalises from lessons learned and is performed in accordance with best practice, striving to mitigate risk, promoting safety and integrity consistently.
  • Develop the local HSE Function through clearly understood roles, responsibilities and performance objectives, regular feedback and continuing professional training.
  • Works closely with Middle East Business Unit HSSE Manager to ensure consistent delivery of HSE across Projects.


What experience would we like you to have?

  • Degree / Academic qualification in an environmentally related discipline
  • Membership of a recognised HSE / Environmental professional body (e.g. IEMA, IOSH, IIRSM, CSA or equivalent).
  • Relevant previous experience at an appropriate level working within the environmental sector of the oil and gas industry involved in all the workflow processes from tender / bids to Project execution (EPCI) until completion.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a Project HSE position with strong knowledge in HSE Management System (ISO 14001, ISO 45001), Project HSE Management, Risk Assessment Principles, Incident Investigation (E.g. TapRoot), Emergency Response Management, Behaviour Based Safety, Environmental Risk Management and all other HSE Subject Matters.
  • Ideally possesses professional qualification(s) - Minimum NEBOSH Professional Certificate or equivalent.
  • Relevant previous experience at an appropriate level in the subsea or offshore environment, with considerable experience in one of the HSE disciplines
  • Experience in Managing Project's within Middle East or similar Project profile (I.e. Saudi Aramco).
  • Strong interpersonal skills and proven track record within Project HSE delivery.

• Ensuring consistent and effective implementation of Quality supporting systems across their organization (e.g. NCR, Improvement action, and lessons learned).
• Supporting tenders and proposal activities for their organization
• Planning and execution of risk-based assurance plans including the escalation of significant findings to senior leaders.
• Monitoring and analysis of delivery performance data, regularly reporting themes and trends to senior leaders, and undertaking intervention as required.
• Driving efforts to maximize margin enhancement
• Ensuring that quality is driven across the Supply chain to assure the right first-time delivery.
• Gathering and acting upon customer feedback ensuring action is taken to maintain and improve customer satisfaction.

• Degree/diploma or local equivalent in Quality management, project management, or related discipline (essential)
• Lead Auditor qualification by a recognized industry body (essential)
• Membership of CQI/ASQ Quality organizations, Project Management Institute or equivalent (desirable)
• Formal training in recognized root cause analysis techniques (essential) Knowledge, skills, and experience:
• 10+ years of relevant experience (preferably in the associated industry)
• Comprehensive understanding of industry standards (ISO 9001)
• Experience in building and managing relationships with customers and key stakeholders
• Experience in working with multifunctional teams
• Demonstrated ability to manage change and thrive in a highly dynamic work environment
• High Level of communication skills in both written and spoken format.
• Proficient in the use of continuous improvement tools and techniques
