Job Summary
As the Power Production Technician at Al Udeid Airforce Base in Qatar, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and effective operation of prime power generation and power distribution to on-base facilities. This position requires strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and unwavering commitment to safety. You will be responsible for operating and maintaining equipment including gas- and diesel-powered generators, ATS and MTS switches, and refueling support for power generation equipment. The Power Production Technician must respond to the base within a two-hour notification to interface with authorized U.S. Government personnel.
Responsibilities
- Leadership and Management:
- Manage resources and activities related to installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of electrical power systems.
- Ensure compliance with all PWS requirements, host nation laws, and U.S. Department of Defense and State Department regulations.
- Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure system integrity.
- Operate, maintain, and repair generators, transfer switches, fuel tanks, cabling, and other related equipment supporting prime power needs.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Train team members on safety practices and hazard analysis.
- Manage hazardous waste and materials, including POL storage and handling.
- Reporting and Documentation:
- Document generator status using AF719 and AF487 logs.
- Prepare outage reports and other required documentation.
- Qualifications:
- Fluent in English; knowledgeable in electronics, electrical principles, and safety practices.
- Experience operating and maintaining generators from 5 to 4,300 kW.
- Education, Experience, and Credentials:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in electrical power generation.
