Overview
To provide strategic leadership and oversight of all animal health programs within the poultry division, ensuring optimal bird health, productivity, and biosecurity. The Director of Animal Health will develop and implement policies, procedures, and innovative health solutions that align with the company’s goals for food safety, production efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Leadership:
- Develop and implement the company’s animal health strategy for poultry, aligning with production and sustainability goals.
- Lead the veterinary and animal health team across all facilities (broiler, breeder, hatchery, feed mill, and processing units).
- Advise senior management on animal health risks, solutions, and innovations.
Veterinary Oversight:
- Oversee diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive veterinary services.
- Ensure timely and effective management of disease outbreaks and monitor emerging health threats.
- Lead the design and application of vaccination protocols, medication schedules, and treatment regimes.
Biosecurity & Welfare:
- Establish and enforce biosecurity programs across all sites.
- Ensure animal welfare standards are met or exceeded, in line with Saudi Arabian and international best practices.
- Conduct regular audits of farm practices, hygiene protocols, and health management systems.
Regulatory & Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA), Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture (MEWA), and other relevant regulatory bodies.
- Maintain accurate records of treatments, medications, and vaccinations.
- Liaise with governmental and industry bodies regarding health certifications and disease control policies.
- Collaborate with academic institutions and research centers on studies related to poultry health.
- Stay abreast of global trends in poultry disease management, antibiotic alternatives, and genetic health.
Team Development:
- Recruit, train, and mentor veterinary and animal health personnel.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and development within the department.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent; advanced degree (e.g., MSc, PhD in poultry science or animal health) is preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in poultry veterinary services, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of poultry diseases, biosecurity, vaccination programs, and nutrition-related health management.
- Familiarity with regional livestock regulations in Saudi Arabia and the GCC.
- Experience in managing large-scale, vertically integrated poultry operations is a strong advantage.
- Fluent in English; Arabic proficiency is a plus.
