JOB PURPOSE / ROLE:
To develop analysis of the market and liquidity risks that the portfolio of the bank entails using advanced market risk tools and methods, e.g. VaR, stress / back tests etc, to identify adherence of all related business functions to established risk levels and statutory standards.
Policies, Processes & Procedures:
Implements approved departmental policies, processes, procedures and provides instructions to subordinates and monitor their adherence so that work is carried out in a controlled manner.
Day- to-day operations:
Implements the day-to-day operations assigned for the Market Risk department to ensure compliance with the established standards and procedures.
Market & Liquidity Risk:
- Monitors the local and international market practices and developments to identify trends that can be used in the development of scenarios and stress tests
- Participates in the development of the Bank's market and liquidity risk appetite and work closely with business units, in an advisory capacity, to identify, assess and mitigate market and liquidity risk exposures as and when they arise
- Handles the development and implementation of stress and back tests to Bank's activities and financial results, in order to assess the portfolio market, liquidity and treasury risks and to provide insight on the level of exposure to risk
- Develops risk models and uses quantitative methods of market risk analysis to identify and reveal potential risk in Bank's portfolio, while monitors their effectiveness in order to apply improvements that will increase their accuracy
- Compares and analyses the results from stress and back tests with the risk appetite of the Bank, raising flags in case of discrepancy, while provides risk mitigation guidance to the Asset & Liability Committee (ALCO) to protect assets and business interests of the Bank
- Provides management and ALCO of the required information and analysis regarding the financial and liquidity risk status, so as to facilitate the development of corrective actions that will protect shareholders' interests and enable the structure and manage of Bank's balance sheet
- Evaluates the liquidity risks identified in relevance to SAMA and Bank's standards and ensures the provision to management of the required information and reports regarding the market and liquidity risk exposure
- Produces the market risk capital charge calculation under various Basel approaches and pillars; coordinates with different departments for accurate and timely reporting of regulatory numbers viz. ICAAP.
- Reviews the Bank's products and processes and provide risk mitigation controls while leads the accurate identification of market & liquidity risks in new products and services to ensure that relevant risks have been identified and considered in the development of risk policies
- Analyses and generates relevant risk metrics for interest rate risk in the banking book (IRRBB). Ensures correct modelling and reporting by acceptable and approved approaches for management reporting, capital charge calculation and disclosure purposes.
- Participates and guides in the selection, implementation and oversight of market risk & ALM monitoring and reporting systems by evaluating the functionality, capability and price offered by prospective vendors keeping in line with the approved budgets and timelines.
Direction of Subordinates:
Organizes and supervises the activities of his subordinates to ensure that all work within a specific area of Market Risk Management activity is carried out in an efficient and procedurally compliant manner.
Continuous Improvement:
Contributes to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of systems, processes and practices taking into account 'international best practice', improvement of business processes, cost reduction and productivity improvement.
Reporting:
Prepares departmental and regulatory reports of Riyad Bank timely and accurately to meet company and department requirements, policies and standards.
Committees & Meetings:
Represents the function and actively contributes in various committees/meetings (internal and external) as applicable and per authority levels in order to ensure relevant matters are dealt with in a timely and efficient manner.
People Management:
Ensures all staff have clear objectives, regular performance feedback sessions, formal annual appraisals, and individual development plans, with particular emphasis on the development of talented staff, Ensures and facilitates the employment, training and development within the organization.
Safety, Quality & Environment:

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a Finance of Business Administration with preferably at a postgraduate level
- International certificate in Risk management, such as CFA or FRM
Minimum Experience:
- 8-10 years of relevant experience in banking including at least 3 years in positions of progressively increasing managerial responsibilities

Responsibilities:
The Market Risk (Credit Ratings) officer will have the following duties and responsibilities:
- Ongoing monitoring of the business processes and financial profile to identify any changes that might have an impact on their credit rating and recommending the necessary responses.
- Ongoing liaison with international rating agencies and the main point of contact for all matters related to their external rating.
- Collect all required information from different departments and accurately complete all rating models and provide any other information required by rating agencies.
- Develop and update internal data models linked to the external rating agency models to ensure accurate, faster and efficient rating/review processes.
- Liaise with external consultants involved in the credit rating process

Qualifications
- Hold at least a master's degree or its equivalent in Business Administration, Finance, Banking or related field (5 years of banking experience in Market Risk).
- Familiarity with the credit rating methodologies of international rating agencies (Moodys, Fitch and S&P) preferably with prior working knowledge/experience in the same.
- Strong analytical skills with a deep understanding of financial statement analysis and accounting concepts.
- Ability to deal with large volumes of data, proficiency with figures and the ability to maintain accuracy and be detail oriented while complying with deadlines.
- Strong Excel/Word/PowerPoint and database application skills. Ability to prepare forecasts based upon reasoned assumptions will be required.
- Professional certification in Risk and/or Finance such as Financial Risk Manager (FRM), Professional Risk Manager (PRM), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or Certificate in Quantitative Finance (CQF) will be advantageous.
- Have a minimum of four (4) years of relevant professional experience in International Financial Institutions or Investment Banks, with a large scope of credit analysis.
- Ability to communicate effectively (written and oral) in English (required), Arabic (strong advantage), and French (desired).
