Mission
  • Execute engineering tasks related to Control and Telecommunication Systems under the supervision of the Instrumentation Discipline Lead.
  • Ensure design compliance with technical requirements, safety standards, and quality expectations.
  • Coordinate with project stakeholders and oversee technical activities carried out internally or by subcontractors to ensure seamless system integration and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

A. Development of Technology Know-How and Commercial Support
  • Contribute to the development of internal technological expertise for control systems.
  • Support commercial efforts by providing control system input for proposals and technical clarifications.

B. Feasibility Studies
  • Assist in the evaluation of technical feasibility for new projects or modifications, ensuring compliance with engineering standards.

C. Bidding Phase / Commercial Proposal Development
  • Estimate quantities and scope for Control Systems to support cost and erection works evaluation.
  • Collaborate with the Discipline Lead to define man-hour budgets and cost estimates for project proposals.

D. Project Execution
  • Review client technical documentation and project specifications.
  • Coordinate and review subcontracted engineering activities and ensure proper documentation flow and quality.
  • Define engineering design criteria, technical procedures, and system architecture.
  • Prepare and validate material and service requisitions for Control and Safety Systems.
  • Optimize system design for cost-efficiency while maintaining functional integrity and safety.
  • Prepare supply specifications for control, safety, advanced control, dynamic simulation, and operator training systems.
  • Contribute to P&ID mechanization and ensure control strategy alignment.
  • Validate Vendor documentation (functional specs, detail design, BOQs).
  • Coordinate detail engineering work and ensure accurate installation drawing preparation.
  • Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) at Vendor facilities.

E. Construction and Start-Up
  • Participate in Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), loop checks, and functional checks offshore.
  • Provide on-site technical and engineering support during construction and commissioning.
  • Perform site-based engineering adjustments and optimizations as required.

Required Technical Skills
  • Proficiency above basic level in:
    • Visual Studio (C++)
    • Python
    • Object-Oriented Programming (OOP)
    • Siemens TIA Portal
    • Siemens WinCC
    • RSLogix 5000
    • SCADA systems
    • Microsoft Excel (Advanced)

Required Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Control Engineering, Automation, Electronics, or related fields.
  • Prior offshore experience, preferably on board an EPC or oil & gas vessel.
  • Strong interpersonal and coordination skills in multicultural environments.
  • Proven ability to produce and review technical documentation.
  • Familiarity with QA/QC and HSE principles and compliance.

    • Identify project risks and issues, assess their potential impact, and work with the Project Team and other functions to develop mitigation strategies.
    • Identifying opportunities for process improvement within the project management framework and collaborating with stakeholders to implement best practices.
    • Perform quality control tasks on budgets, schedules, plans and reports on the project's status.
    • Collaborate with internal disciplines such as engineering, procurement, QHSE, contract management, and other internal cross-functional teams to create more efficient project execution methods and enhance the project's profitability.
    • Facilitate communication between project teams, stakeholders, and senior management, ensuring alignment of project objectives and priorities.
    • Interact with subcontractors to monitor and control their performance.
    • Implement frameworks to measure the project's metrics and data collection.
    • Ensure the project complies with applicable codes, practices, policies, performance standards, and specifications.
    What do I need to qualify for the role?
    • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
    • Minimum of 12 years of experience in Project Management in Airport Baggage / Cargo / Material Handling Systems, or Intralogistics / Warehouse Automation, or Large-Scale Industrial Automation projects.
    • Minimum 5 years of experience leading, coaching and developing project teams.
    • Hands-on experience in managing complex project milestones and deadlines.
    • Comprehensive knowledge of project management concepts, practices and procedures, resource and schedule management.
    • Proficiency in project management tools such as Microsoft Project, Primavera and SAP.
    • Working knowledge of Revit, ACAD and Conceptboard.
    • A collaborative team player with leadership qualities, an open mindset, and excellent listening skills.
    • Flexible, independent and able to handle stress effectively.
    • Strong passion and proven success in achieving profitable project execution, distinct customer orientation and strong customer interface skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
    • Strong analytical skills with a creative, innovative approach to problem-solving.
    • Ability to work effectively in a diverse, multicultural environment.
    • Self-motivated, proactive learner with solid planning, organizing and influencing skills.
    • Certification in project management by , alternatively PMP, IPMA or GPM, PRINCE2 or similar is a plus.
    • Excellent communication skills in English, both written & verbal. Arabic or German is an advantage.
    • Good awareness and experience in Environment, Health and Safety.

    Responsibilities
    • Support the Site Manager in mechanical installation, commissioning, and maintenance of equipment across various projects.
    • Guide subcontractors on installation best practices.
    • Coordinate with construction and procurement departments for tools and consumables.
    • Design mechanical systems, calculations, drawings, and scope of works.
    • Supervise mechanical services installation.
    • Prepare work packages for installation teams.
    • Assist proposals with input for upcoming projects and share lessons learned.
    • Support quality inspections and project handover.
    • Identify risks and implement preventive actions with engineering teams.
    • Ensure mechanical works follow approved drawings and safety standards.
    • Follow occupational health, safety, security, environmental, and quality practices.
    Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
    • At least 5 years of experience as a Site Engineer in mechanical equipment installation, especially in BHS, conveyor, cargo, or warehouse automation projects.
    • Proficiency in AutoCAD Mechanical and REVIT.
    • Knowledge of engineering analysis tools like ANSYS or ProMechanica.
    • Good interpersonal skills and experience working across cultures.
    • Willingness to work on projects outside KSA.
    • Fluent in English; Arabic or other languages are a plus.
